| The fine elevation controls on Omega D5500 and ProLab II enlargers operate as a direct friction drive system using two resilient drive rollers press fit on a splined shaft. With age and use the original rollers crack and split, at which point they detach from the shaft, disabling the fine elevation control. The control knobs will turn freely with no effect.
Omega is no longer able to supply replacement parts. However, KHB Photografix has developed a replacement for the original assembly that is more durable and more easily serviced. Our custom drive roller assembly uses solid rollers, fitted with resilient sleeves to provide the proper friction surface. Should the rollers ever need service in future, only the inexpensive sleeves need be replaced, not the entire assembly. This is a direct replacement for the original assembly - no modifications are required. |
